Krispy Kreme Awards Franchise Rights For Middle East

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc has awarded franchise rights to a Kuwaiti restaurant company, the Americana Group. Under the agreement, the latter is to open 100 Krispy Kreme locations in Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other locations in the region. It will own 100% of the franchises.
The first location is scheduled to open in Kuwait this autumn.
The Americana Group operates about 650 restaurants in 11 Middle Eastern countries. Its other brands include KFC, Hardees and Pizza Hut. The company has more than $1 billion in annual sales.
