Nike opens flagship store in Tokyo

Global sportswear brand Nike has opened a new flagship store in the Harajuku district of Tokyo, an area famous for its stylish inhabitants and fashion shops, agency reports.

The Nike Flagship Store Harajuku is the firm's biggest outlet in Japan as a whole.

Vice-president and general manager of Nike Japan Jim Godbout said: "The addition of the Nike Flagship Store Harajuku will help drive energy in Tokyo while expanding Nike's footprint in the community." reported Fibre2fashion.com.

The website noted that the Harajuku area is an "epicentre" of style and culture.

The new store will have a number of floors themed around different sports and leisure activities.

On the first floor, there is set to be a Runner's Studio which will allow visitors to analyse the way in which they run.

Above this, on the second floor, the store will have a NIKEiD studio, where people can design their own shoe.
